Tip for an Affordable B&B near Venice, Italy:

We are a middle-aged couple from Essex, and we stayed at this British-run B&B close to Venice:

Faronhof Bed and Breakfast

It's a 15 min ride on the bus to the centre of Venice, and the owners were very friendly and helpful.

Thanks Ian for that Venice Bed and Breakfast recommendation. Our 2007 trip to Italy confirmed for us too that you don't need to be right in Venice to get good B&B/hotel accommodation at a cheap price. And access to the city center and canals is quite easy by train.
