Here's a few tips on booking the best all inclusive getaway to Mexico & the Caribbean:

Is a Discount All Inclusive Vacation Right for You?

a) Is a “pre-planned” vacation right for you both? With all-inclusive discount vacation packages, your hotel is chosen, your activities will be pre-arranged in some cases, and meals will most likely be at the resort much of the time. Even your drinks will probably be included (the slightly watered-down resort type though!)

For a stress-buster holiday, this can be ideal. Planning and booking are ultra-convenient, transportation is taken care of, and you don’t waste time hunting down hotels and restaurants while trying to drive in a foreign city. And, it’s easier to get an idea of the total cost of your trip, as you can see the total price upfront, and then calculate the few small extras.

If you are looking less for relaxation and more for a cultural adventure though, you could find this arrangement a little restrictive. Many all inclusive discount vacation packages offer plenty of activities to choose from, so you don’t have to lay in a hammock all day (although you can if you want to).

All-Inclusive Resorts for $99 or Less

But if traveling, exploring, mixing with the local community and finding your own quiet little beach are more important to you, you’ll do better either booking things separately or perhaps going for an air & hotel deal that isn’t all-inclusive.

Maureen and I spent 1 week at a discount Cancun vacation all inclusive. Superb resort, fantastic beach, food and entertainment all top-notch. A great, relaxing time in the sun and sand. But it was like being in a bubble - you almost forgot that you were in Mexico!

b) Do you want/need everything that’s included? Paying for activities you won’t do or amenities you won’t use is a waste, regardless of the price. So look over the webpage or brochure carefully.

On the other hand, if most of it is to your liking or at least raises your curiosity, that’s a good sign. And keep in mind that to some Caribbean islands, just the airfare alone is more than some package prices!
