Wingate by Wyndham Atlanta - An Affordable Romantic Hotel
We Liked: Affordable, spacious luxury rooms, very clean, free hot breakfast, great location. Could Improve: Better in-room Wi-Fi, also bath robes would be nice. Can a chain hotel with a "cookie-cutter" design be romantic? Maybe we just came at a good time, but Greg and I were sure impressed by the friendly staff at the Wingate hotel in Atlanta. Right from the moment we checked in to this TripAdvisor top-rated hotel in Atlanta’s Buckhead neighborhood, we were blown away by the Southern hospitality we were shown. Of course, it didn’t hurt that this Atlanta hotel room, a large suite with a king-sized bed in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the main area, was beautifully appointed and immaculately clean. The little details, such as sanitized remote controls for the two large flat-screen TVs were a nice surprise. Our suite had a kitchen with microwave and fridge, allowing us to keep a few food items on hand and cold drinks at the ready. We were also able to make coffee in the mornings. But dishes and cutlery are not provided, so things have to be kept simple. The bathroom was big and included a huge, 2-person whirlpool tub and some luxury bath products. One amenity that would have been nice to have are bathrobes to use afterwards, though.
We found the room quiet and security was not a concern. Those things contribute quality to your Atlanta romantic getaway experience. You can’t under-estimate them. Amenities, Location & More...Pool: Speaking of romantic soaking, the pool area was really attractive and kept tidy and organized. It might be an unusual thing to notice, but I must mention the gorgeous public washrooms off the pool area in the main section of the hotel. Wow! I wouldn’t mind those fixtures in my own home. What luxury!
Free Breakfast: Each morning a complimentary continental breakfast is provided downstairs in the eating area. We loved the waffles and omelette bar too. The only drawback to that was that it was quite overcrowded at times and we found it difficult to find a place to sit. Perhaps it’s better at non-peak times of the year.

Finally, the location of this Wingate hotel is very convenient. Buckhead is a North Atlanta suburb with easy access to ATL airport and many attractions. It’s also close to great shopping and entertainment. The drive to World of Coca-Cola, the Aquarium and CNN is about 20 minutes at most times of the day. Piedmont Park is close by and has lovely romantic walking trails, as well as a Saturday Farmer’s Market. Georgia Peach, anyone? There are good quality restaurants close by, although nothing within walking distance of the hotel itself.
