Romantic Destination Wedding Ideas
Hi, Maureen here. The second part of this website duo. Welcome to our destination wedding ideas page! We hope to inform as well as inspire all of you Romantics.
We’ve never given much thought to destination/travel weddings. Our own wedding, back in ’94 was traditional and held in my little hometown. But last September, my dear friend Corinna, married Chris, the man of her dreams, in spectacular Waterton National Park in southern Alberta, Canada. As two of only thirty invited guests, Greg and I were thrilled to be a part of this Canadian Rockies destination wedding.
Corinna’s wedding invitation came well in advance and gave us plenty of time to prepare for the event. The wedding ceremony and tea was held at the gorgeous 75-yr old Prince of Wales Hotel. The hotel staff is very competent at hosting weddings. My friend has always been very prudent with her budget, and managed to plan a beautiful yet inexpensive destination wedding package.
After the ceremony, high tea was served in the hotel. The following morning, the guests met for a hike though the park before making our way home.

With TV programs like The Today Show destination wedding where viewers select various parts of the destination wedding package, the whole idea is gaining popularity. We sincerely hope to give you some valuable ideas.

The ceremony was held just outside the hotel, with the mountains and glacier lakes providing a spectacular backdrop. A single flutist played lovely music as the bride slowly made her way down the walkway leading from the back of the hotel to her place beside her husband-to-be. Far below us, as the cold lake lapped at the base of the rugged mountains, a brown bear could be seen working hard to catch a fish!
