Always going to Hawaii, but looking for a refreshing change? You can find some new (and unique) Hawaii romantic vacations on every island in Hawaii!

We've done some research, talked to other couples, and selected a special romantic spot on each of the 5 Hawaiian islands. Included are a few extra tips on romantic Hawaii restaurants, dinner cruises and other activities for couples.

The word in Hawaiian is "Luana" and it means "contentment, happy"...

1. Big Island of Hawaii Romantic Vacations in Volcano National Park

How about a romantic getaway on the Big Island of Hawaii next to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park? Explore volcanic lava flows, hike the many trails, or relax on the black-sand volcanic beaches! After hours, retreat to the rainforest and snuggle up in the cozy Bamboo Orchid Cottage Bed & Breakfast.

Away from the lava and fire, you'll find 2 of the most romantic restaurants on the Big Island of Hawaii at:

  • Kilauea Lodge Restaurant ( Kilauea Lodge, Volcano, HI (808) 967-7366) Just a mile from the National Park in the village of Valcano, you'll find this romantic lodge, with it's fireplace and Hawaiian art decor. Local specialties include seafood and duck.

  • CanoeHouse Restaurant ( Mauna Lani Bay Resort, Kohala Coast (808) 881-7911 ) - Innovative, mouth-watering dishes served in an gorgeous oceanside setting with sunset views.

2. A Small Romantic Hotel in Maui

Hotel Hana, Maui Instead of a huge luxury resort, enjoy your next romantic getaway in Maui at a smaller, more intimate location. The Travaasa Hana at Hana beach is a smaller, 66 room resort with bungalow-style Maui cottages with private lanai spa tubs. It's a rather winding drive along the coast to this part of Maui, but well worth it.

In the evening, for the best Maui dinner cruise and most romantic sail on the Pacific, the Maui Princess Dinner Cruise departs Lahaina Harbor for an evening of cocktails, fine dining and dancing on Maui's "largest floating dancefloor" (877-500-6284).

More on Romantic Maui - fun and romantic things to do on a Maui vacation or honeymoon in Lahaina, Kihei, Kaanapali and more.

3. Molokai - Secluded Resorts on a Secluded Island

Molokai Hotels & Romantic Resorts - perfect for a secluded Hawaii vacation full of peace and quiet and romance. Molokai resorts can offer romantic dining, plus activities like kayaking, whale-watching, horseback riding and more.

Fun things to do on Molokai would include:

  • Ride a mule down the sea cliffs to the former leper colony of Kalaupapa.

  • Pick up a kite at the Big Wind kite factory in Maunaloa, and test fly it at the park next door.

  • Sample some fresh-roasted Hawaiian coffee or espresso at the Molokai Coffee Company.

4. Kauai Romantic Getaways in a Bed and Breakfast

Gloria's Spouting Horn B&B, Kauai Oceanfront Poipu is one of the best places on Kauai for relaxing in the sun and sand, and that's where you'll find Gloria's Spouting Horn Bed and Breakfast . It's a 4 star luxury ocean front B&B loaded with romantic features like four-poster beds, soaker tubs, and an oceanfront swimming pool with hammocks between the coconut trees.

For some romantic Kauai restaurants, try:

  • Shells Seafood Restaurant in the Sheraton Kauai (808-742-1661). It's got a superb location on Kauai's south shore, and some amazingly fresh and delicious seafood.

  • Kauai's Most Romantic Evening (877-877- 8908) - a private Clydesdale-drawn carriage ride tours you through Kilohana estate, and then to Gaylords Restaurant for a specially chosen romantic dinner with champagne and desert. Would be a great idea if you're thinking about where to propose on Kauai!

Kauai is a great holiday for couples - discover more about a romantic Kauai vacation getaway, or for newlyweds, find the perfect Kauai honeymoon hotel.

5. A Quiet Resort in Waikiki, Oahu

romantic dinner, Waikiki Hawaii Tired of the same old Waikiki hotels and crowds? If you follow the beach a little further south towards Diamond Head, you'll come to the beautiful and quiet Sans Souci Beach (they call this the "Gold Coast" of Waikiki), home of the The New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel.

This small but romantic Waikiki hotel has gorgeous oceanview rooms, fine dining in several restaurants, lots of Oahu activities available nearby and is close to the trails and hiking in Kapiolani Park.

Most Romantic Restaurant in Waikiki: Several possibilities - You can stay right at the Kaimana Beach Hotel and dine at the open-Air Hau Tree Lanai, a very romantic beachside restaurant with excellent Pacific Rim dishes in a charming setting.

Or, if you'd like to get above the crowds, here's 3 romantic Waikiki restaurants perched at the top of luxury hotels - good food, fine wine, and outstanding views of Diamond Head and sunsets over the Pacific:

  • Sarento's Top of the 'I' (in the Renaissance Ilikai)

  • Aaron's Atop the Ala Moana

  • The Hanohano Room at the Sheraton Waikiki
