Romantic Hotel Packages in Niagara Falls
A look at some hotel packages in Niagara Falls along with Niagara Falls attractions and tours
Niagara Falls is the most popular tourist attraction in Canada – over 12 million visitors every year! And it’s always been a very popular honeymoon destination as well. The falls themselves are spectacular, even though some of the surrounding area is beginning to resemble Las Vegas!
For a great couple of nights, it’s important to choose the right room, and have in mind what you want to do.
Choosing the Right Niagara Falls Hotel Room
You have about 3 different options for staying in Niagara Falls. They are:
- Motel/Motor Inn – this is where you find the classic heart shape tubs, as well as the familiar chain establishments. Many are located along Lundy’s Lane about 2 km from the falls.
- Bed&Breakfast – our choice for a nice alternative to the cookie-cutter style rooms of motels. Better value for the dollar too. You can find many B&B’s along River Rd as you make your way towards the falls from the north.
- High Rise Hotel – for a couple of romantic nights near the Falls, this is the most popular choice. And you couldn’t ask for a better view! If you’re going to splurge a bit on a nice hotel with a view somewhere in North America, Niagara Falls is a good choice.
Many of the hotel packages in Niagara Falls are 2 night deals that include accommodation, breakfast and 1 dinner. They start at around $150 - $200 Canadian dollars per couple. That rate will be higher during peak weekends and holidays. And rooms with the best view will be extra as well.
Niagara Falls Attractions
As we mentioned earlier, there are a steadily growing number of some rather gimmicky tourist trap offerings springing up near the Falls – Ripley’s Believe It or Not, Madame Tausaud’s Wax Museum, Criminal Hall of Fame, and so on. The waterfalls themselves are what you’re really here for, and these are a few activities you’ll want to include on your visit here, as well as one great little sidetrip:
Maid of the Mist - Bundle up in your rain jacket (provided) as the diesel powered boat chugs through the choppy waters and stops right at the bottom of the falls on both sides of the border. A soaking wet but memorable ride.
Journey behind the Falls – We loved this one a lot! A series of elevators and tunnels take you behind the waterfalls, and let you experience up close the thunder and deluge taking place just a few feet in front of you! Amazing experience.
Minolta Tower – a great view of the Falls (in case you need more!). It’s worth it to get the 2 trip ticket and come back for an evening view. If you want a high-altitude romantic dinner however, it’s very pricey. Try the Skylon tower early bird dinner special instead.
Niagara-On-The-Lake A very attractive little place located on the shore of Lake Ontario, near the mouth of the Niagara River. Great spot for a romantic weekend of wine tasting, snooping around antique shops or just relaxing by the lake. There are some nice packages for 2 here on weekends (around $129-$169/night) in quaint little inns and B&B's. Niagara-on-the-Lake is only a 15 mile drive north of Niagara Falls.
