Romantic Hotels and Inns of Costa Rica
Info on Romantic Hotels & Inns of Costa Rica
Costa Rica has a good supply of accommodation, including hotels, inns, B&B’s and resorts. The prices can range from around $40 US/night for a very basic double to several hundred dollars at a private lodge or spa resort in a more remote location. In many places, you get excellent value for your money!
While perhaps not quite up to Hawaiian or Caribbean-style luxury mega-resort grade, romantic Costa Rica hotels and inns have been steadily improving over the last decade or so. Generally, you’ll find the moderately priced hotels and inns in Costa Rica are nice, well arranged establishments with clean bathroom facilities and some nice little extras.
The location can be a really nice surprise, as there are many mid-range hotels within walking distance to the beach!
Costa Rica hotel areas are usually divided into several different geographic locations:
- San Jose
- Monteverde/Arenal
- Atlantic Coast
- Western Side – Guanacaste, Pacific Coast
- South Pacific coast
In many mid-range hotels and inns of Costa Rica, you can expect to find central air conditioning, small fridge, coffee maker, hair dryer, TV and telephone. In this price range you also find some really unique wood frame “jungle bungalows” with ceiling fans in locations outside of the cities.
Some of the luxury resorts in Costa Rica are now offering top level amenities including fitness centers, internet café, in-room hot tubs and honeymoon suites.
Worth knowing: There is a hotel tax of approximately 16% added to all overnight stays. For December - April accommodation in beach resorts and other popular places, book well ahead.
