Ice Hotel: A fully functioning hotel made of thick blocks of ice! It operates seasonally of course, usually from about mid-December till sometime in April.

Romantic Ice Hotel How cold is it inside your room? About -5. In Quebec, even the bed frame is made of ice, but it's fitted with a foam mattress and covers made of fleece, wool and deer pelts! In Sweden, you cuddle up in a special thermal sleeping bag.

A romantic night in an ice hotel can make for a most interesting and unusual honeymoon or romantic getaway experience. Currently, there are ice hotels in at least 3 countries:

  • Sweden
  • Quebec
  • Alaska

There's probably lots more you would like (and need) to know about these fascinating hotels. Here's where to look for more about them:

Canadian Ice Hotel - Beds, walls, floor - everything is made out of ice! The Ice Hotel in Canada, located in Quebec, is a luxury romantic igloo perfect for a different kind of winter getaway.

Chena Hot Springs - This Alaska Ice Hotel is a full service destination resort that offers extras year-round such as weddings, massage therapies, even dog sled rides!

Ice Hotel Sweden - Enjoy a romantic winter break at the Jukkasjarvi Sweden ice hotel, with snowmobile tours, hot tubs and moose safaris.
