Mayan Riviera All-Inclusive Resort

We would reccommend a Mayan Riviera all-inclusive resort vacation for couples looking for an affordable beach honeymoon that's easy to fly to, always warm, and offers a nice mix of activities and relaxation.

The coastline south of Cancun, Mexico is full of gorgeous white sand beaches, the warm Caribbean, and a lush jungle eco system. Most Mexico vacation “pros” agree that the best beaches in Mexico are here.

And it's here where you'll find lots of Mayan Riviera resorts, and travellers from all over America and Europe exploring the Yucatan Peninsula.

First, let's tell you a little bit about our Mayan Riviera vacation!

Our Mayan Riviera All-Inclusive Resort

We have nothing but great things to say about our stay at the superb Catalonia Royal Tulum Beach & Spa Resort near Xpuha. The beach here has to be one of the best we have ever seen! Turquoise water that was very warm for swimming, white sand that felt like flour between your toes, and 6 and ½ days of sunshine and 31 degrees.

The resort was immaculate, the staff friendly and interesting, and the food was great. Night time entertainment included live shows of music, dance and comedy. There was late night karaoke and dancing at the disco too.

Resort on the Mayan Riviera The nice part about most Mayan Riviera all-inclusive resort vacations is that one price includes just about everything - accommodation, entertainment, meals, and most drinks. Once you unpack, you can pack your wallet away! The only time in 7 days we carried any money was to buy some souvenirs in Playa del Carman and on our excursion to Cozumel.

Cancun is nice, but for us, Playa del Carman was a pleasant little surprise – you can relax and wander through the shops without dodging speeding cars, check out some local artists offerings, get your hair braided, or just enjoy a Mai Tai under a Palm, watching the wind surfers out at sea. It’s small, comfortable and easy to get around.

Best Time to Visit the Mayan Riviera

November through March are nice months weather-wise, and are the best time to visit the Mayan Riviera and Cancun. It can get pretty hot and humid during the other months, and July to September is hurricaine season in the Gulf of Mexico.

High Season is usually from December until spring break in March.

How to Get to the Mayan Riviera

If you choose a Mayan Riviera all-inclusive resort package that includes air, transfers between Cancun Airport and your Mayan Riviera resort will probably be included. The distance from Cancun to the Mayan Riviera is about 50 miles (80km). Travel time by taxi or shuttle van is 1 hour.

Mayan Riviera Sights

Mayan Riviera Sunset It’s easy to explore some of the Mayan Riviera attractions just by doing day trips from your resort. They can be purchased in advance, or from the tours desk at the resort.

The most popular Mayan Riviera sights are:

  • Xcaret, an ecological park set in a jungle near Playa del Carman, with terrific lagoon snorkeling, botanical gardens, bird aviary and a sea turtle nursery.
  • Mayan ruins of Tulum, Chichen Itza and Coba.
  • Day trips to Cozumel, with world famous snorkeling and diving.
  • Cancun, with non-stop shopping, entertainment and nightlife.
