More on Romantic Dining in San Francisco

by Caroline Kaps
(San Francisco, CA)

Hey!

Ok so here are a few classics. They have been around and have proven themselves. And truly keep putting their money where there mouth is, so to speak.

My favorite restaurant for romantic dining in San Francisco is always Kokkari. After that, in no particular order:

-Quince
-Aziza
-Le Jardiniere
-Ducca

I am distinguishing between "romantic" and what would make a good date place too.

Belden Alley is fun and there are many restaurants there- it feels like Europe. The Embarcadero has places like the Ferry Building that house the Slanted Door (great food, beautiful view). NorthBeach-Da Flora in particular but Rose Pistola's is nice (as well as their sister restaurant "Roses" for brunch)..

For example, a romantic restaurant in Sausalito close to the Golden Gate Bridge is Poggio. With all the tourist places in Saualito it holds up to the finicky, harder to impress locals. It has a fun bar scene as well as a few outside tables. When the weather permits it is great to sit outside there..

Also, a fun date place in the Bay area (and right on the water) is Guymas in Tiburon. The thing with Guymas is you will want to sit outside and see the gorgeous view.. The food is good too and it's close to the ferry landing.

Oh and I used to go to First Crush up in Marin - loved it. We still have not gone to the one in town. Good call.

My husband and I eat out often - there are so many great places to eat in San Francisco and I bet as soon as I send this I will think of places I should have added.

Sincerely,

Caroline Kaps

Thanks Caroline for those great suggestions on the best spots for dining in the Bay area. It's been a few years since we wrote about San Francisco restaurants, but I'll be checking out some of your tips for sure the next time we travel to that part of California.
