Plan a Second Honeymoon With an Exciting Poconos Vacation!

Poconos Vacation Highlights - Tips for a Romantic Getaway in the Poconos

Did you know that over 200,000 couples choose a Poconos vacation for their honeymoon every year? And, because of it's popular northeast location and wide selection of accommodation, it continues to be a very popular romantic and recreation destination for couples of all ages.

This area has a lot more going for it than just the “classic” heart shaped bathtubs! The Pocono Mountains are an easy drive from many major cities in the U.S. Northeast, and a chance to have a wilderness adventure, even for only a few days.

Let’s explore the scenic drives, dining opportunities, and other romantic things to do in the Poconos. And we’ll also look at where to fly into and the best ways to get around.

Poconos Vacation: Activities

There’s alot to do in and around the many different Poconos resorts! There are a number of downhill ski resorts (Camelback and Boulder Mountain are 2 fine downhill resorts). With numerous state parks, 2400 square miles of wilderness and over 150 lakes, there’s lots of possibilities. They include:

Winter Recreation:
  • Skiing, both cross country and downhill
  • Snowboarding
  • Ice Skating
  • Sleigh Rides
  • Snowmobiling and ice fishing
Summer Recreation:
  • Hiking through scenic woodlands, mountains
  • Horseback riding
  • Golfing
  • Swimming
  • Boating, white water rafting, kayaking
  • Amusement and water parks

Shopping: Once back in “civilization”, there’s everything from antique shops and galleries to outlet malls and factory stores. Plenty of specialty shops and boutiques too.

Don’t Miss: Bushkill Falls, with great hikes around all 8 waterfalls, and shopping and eating nearby. The chairlift to the top of Big Pocono Mountain offers a great panoramic view of the area.

You can hop on board the historic train ride at the Stourbridge Lion & Rail Excursion in Honesdale. And get out on the water at Lake Wallenpaupack for swimming, boating and water skiing.

Poconos Vacation: Scenic Drives

The Poconos are known for spectacular autumn foliage. Try Route 6 as it winds it’s way through rolling farmlands, forests and mountains. It enters the Poconos around Lake Wallenpaupack. This road has been called one of the best scenic touring roads in America.

Route 209 is a nice back road where you’ll meet quaint little mountain resort towns like Jim Thorpe.

Poconos Vacation Resorts

For those romantic nights in the Poconos, here's some options:

Caesars Resorts in the Poconos:

  • Ceasars Paradise Stream is a cozy couples-only resort located in Mount Pocono. Features nightclub entertainment, health club and spa. A wide range of outdoor activities including indoor and outdoor pools, mini golf, and ice skating in the winter.

  • The secluded Caesars Cove Haven Resort on Lake Wallenpaupack is an ideal couples only romantic getaway. Waterskiing and boating in the summer, and snow tubing in the winter! Dining options include all-you-can-eat breakfasts and dinners.

  • For active couples of all ages, Caesars Pocono Palace has an almost endless choice of activities all year round. Pools, rollerskating, raquetball, tennis, golf, waterskiing and snowmobiling just to name a few. Located in the heart of the Poconos near Marshall Creek.

Poconos Vacation: Getting There

The Pocono Mountains are approximately 85 miles from both Philadelphia and New York City. That means that you could fly into either city as late as 6 or 7 PM and still be at your Poconos resort before 10 PM!

Have a romantic time on your Poconos vacation!
