Romantic Quebec City Bed and Breakfast Inns and Hotels

Why a Quebec City Bed and Breakfast for your Honeymoon?

Custom Search
Maureen and I are convinced that in North America, this is the closest you can come to a European getaway experience!

Quebec City will make you feel like you’re in France. The narrow, cobbled streets of the Old City could be in Strasbourg or Lyon. No wonder it’s been designated a United Nations World Heritage Site.

And one of the best things is it's location – you can easily get a Quebec Vacation Package from cities like Toronto, Newark, and Detroit. You get the look and feel of Europe without the jet lag! And prices for Quebec City bed and breakfast accommodation and small hotels are quite reasonable, making your honeymoon more affordable!

Best Time to Visit Quebec City

Any time is the best time to visit Quebec City! Summer is warm and sunny, and winter, although quite cold, brings lots of outdoor activities, including the famed Winter Carnival.

How to Get to Quebec City

Quebec City Airport is the major transport hub for the city, and is served by Air Canada Jazz. They have flights to Quebec City from major Canadian airports such as Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa.

From the USA, Northwest Airlines flys in from Detroit, and Continental Express has daily service from Newark.

The best way to get from the airport to your Quebec City bed and breakfast inn is by taxi or shuttle.

Driving by car to your Quebec City bed and breakfast is also possible, especially if you live in eastern Canada or the northeastern US.

Some driving distances:

  • Distance from Toronto to Quebec City: 510 miles (825 km)

  • Distance from Monteal to Quebec City: 158 miles (255 km)

  • Distance from New York City to Quebec City: 487 miles (790 km)

  • Distance from Chicago to Quebec City: 879 miles (1424 km)

Quebec City Attractions

Quebec City - Old City Exploring the Old City on Foot – just wandering through the old section of historic Quebec City is the main attraction, with it’s old stone houses, churches and narrow streets. It’s the only walled city remaining in North America! Grab a walking tour booklet at any tourist office for guide to all the points of interest.

Battlefields Park – includes the Plains of Abraham, site of the famous 1759 battle between the English and the French.

Old Lower Town – you can ride the “funicular” down to this section of Quebec City, the oldest part of town, and explore the forts, galleries and boutiques.

Horse-Drawn Carriage Ride - Also called a Calèche ride, it's a romantic and wonderful way to experience the medieval atmosphere of the narrow streets and centuries old town squares.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of Your Quebec City Honeymoon

Here’s some ideas and tips to go along with your Quebec City Bed and Breakfast honeymoon or getaway:

Try a Few Words in French – English is spoken in many places, so you’ll have no problem. But by trying just a few simple French expressions, like bonjour (hello), s'il vous plait (thank you) and merci (thank you), you’ll extend dignity to your hosts, and they will appreciate and make your honeymoon or getaway even more memorable!

Explore with your Taste buds – The cuisine of Quebec City is an interesting blend of French and Canadian Quebecois styles. Try some of the interesting fowl dishes, like duck, and wash it down with a nice apple wine. There are many varieties of cheese, rolls and pastry available too. And for desert, the maple-syrup pie is to die for!

Quebec City Day Trips – There are Quebec City excursions you can take, like a ½ day city tour, or the popular day trip out to the falls Chute Montmorency and the beautiful Ile d’ Orleans. Gray Line Tours have brochures with details on their Quebec City bus tours. Don’t worry, the guides speak English!

Quebec City Nightlife – You’ll be pleasantly surprised how much life there is after dark in the Old Town. Many cafes schedule live entertainment in the evening, usually live music and dancing. The bars and brasseries are lively and interesting places, with people laughing and mingling till the wee hours. Try Rue Saint Jean for some good opportunities.

Quebec City Bed and Breakfast Inns and Small Hotels

Quebec City Bed and Breakfast The Old Town of Quebec City is full of small hotels and quaint little bed and breakfast inns. Many are still family run hotels, and the owners greet you at the door and show you around. We enjoyed 3 nights in a beautiful early 1800's Quebec City bed and breakfast inn in the heart of the Old Town.

The rooms were fascinating - we may not of had a hot tub suite and 200 cable channels, but the quaint character and charm was unforgettable! Every morning we made our way down for a breakfast of fresh fruit, french rolls and coffee. And all the best sights and sounds of the Old Town were just a few minutes walk.
