Jurgen & Donna Halbheer, from Ohio, USA spent some time in North & South Carolina in August (just after the hurricane season ended!). They were kind enough to pass on these tips and excellent pictures... If you’re longing for a sunset walk on the beach head to North Carolina. We spent a fun filled week playing in the sand and surf! Holden Beach, North Carolina is a cute little Island connected by a grand spiraling bridge (newly built to withstand a Hurricane). You can rent a house and walk out your front door to the ocean! What could be better!
If you’re driving don’t forget to stop at Capt. Nance’s Seafood Restaurant in Calabash. Do you’all take your ice tea sweet or not? If you want some tasty fried fish you can get it there! Southern hospitality is their specialty.
When your ready to shop, head to Barefoot Landing, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Boardwalks connect the 100 stores and specialty shops. Feed some fish while enjoying the sunshine reflecting off the beautiful 27 acre lake.
My husband and I even had our picture taken with a tiger cub at T.I.G.E.R.S. Preservation Station and the money goes to save these endangered animals.
Thanks for the romantic getaway in North Carolina tips and those great pics (especially with the chimpanzee and the baby tiger!) Capt. Nance’s reminds me of the southern restaurant we ate at in Nashville – catfish, hush puppies and cole slaw, quite the experience!
