Romantic View from Middle Island Keepers' Lodge
Here's an idea for a romantic Lake Huron getaway in Northern Michigan: The Middle Island Keepers' Lodge.
You stay in a former U.S. Coast Guard Fog Signal Building. Don't worry, there won't be a foghorn blasting you out of bed in the middle of the night. In fact, you basically have the whole 250(+) acre island to yourself!
You will experience quiet, starfilled nights gazing north on majestic Lake Huron. You will see lighted freighters passing by as you enjoy the warm crackling fire. During daylight hours, take a look at the restoration work underway on the Keepers' Quarters and Lighthouse.
Get your own personal tour if you like. Explore the more that two miles of groomed, woodchipped trail. You can pretend you are scouring the horizon for ships in distress, just as the life saving crew used to do. All this and much, much more.
