Romantic Tips for Romantic Trips!

Custom Search

We’ve got some romantic tips and a few romance ideas to make your vacations and getaways better!

You can add some spice, fun and romance to any trip the two of you take – even weekends when you stay in your own city and just relax and explore locally!

Rent A Limousine

This can be a real romantic pleaser, especially when combined with the element of surprise! Instead of the usual taxi or mini-van shuttle from the airport to your hotel, surprise him/her with a limousine! They’re available at most major cities, and are a great way of starting your vacation even before you arrive at your hotel/resort.

This is a great idea even at home – we remember how our friends had surprised us with a luxury limousine tour of Vancouver for our 5th anniversary! It was incredible seeing the city from the back of a stretch limousine, sipping champagne and pretending we were VIPs! Remember, you want a real limousine – not a bus or van they call a limo!

Flowers

Nothing is as consistently pleasing as flowers. What are the most romantic flowers you can give, and recieve? Everyone has a favorite, but these are the most popular:
  • 12 long-stemmed roses. You can’t beat the classic!
  • Tulips
  • Daisies

Honeymoon/Anniversary

You’d be surprised how many nice little perks come your way when everyone knows you’re on your honeymoon! When we flew to San Francisco for ours, I opened my big mouth at the check-in counter, and the airline upgraded us to first class! And when we got to our cute little cottage in Carmel, CA, a very romantic basket of fruit, chocolates and wine was waiting for us! (we booked ahead and told them it was for our honeymoon!)

Anniversary Planning: Take turns planning your anniversary! One year, you plan a secret weekend or few days – do all the research, planning, reservations and packing. Totally surprise her, and you'll feel a great sense of satisfaction for putting together a great getaway. Next year, it's your turn to guess where!

Things To Pack

A game you both enjoy, like Scrabble or Trivial Pursuit. A puzzle. A bottle of wine you both like. Some candles. Massage oil and bubble bath. Lingerie. Some favorite CD’s.

Also...

For A Day or Two, No Alarm Clock or Phone! Get rid of the everyday time stealers and responsibilities. Stay up late, sleep in the next morning. Then, enjoy a nice, leisurely breakfast or brunch, either at home (in bed maybe?) or out at a restaurant.

Photo Album Fun: Find some photos of you both, get comfortable and spend some time looking at them together-start with your dating, your wedding, and everything since. Laugh, remember, and share some of your past!

Consider a Secluded Cabin: Take yourselves away from it all completely. We spent 2 nights in a quiet, semi-remote cabin in the British Columbia Gulf Islands 3 years ago, and it was just great. Each night we enjoyed spectacular sunsets, amazing quiet (the only sound was the crickets and frogs in the distance!), a roaring fire, and the stars overhead. You could just feel yourself un-wind-ing!
