Tofino Resort Vacations – A Honeymoon on Canada's Pacific Coast
A Romantic Tofino Resort Honeymoon - Info on a Secluded Resort in a Great Wilderness Location.
Maureen and I have travelled to Tofino, BC several times, including trips in late November and during winter storm season in early March. We loved the cozy nights by the fireplace in our oceanfront cabin, with the pounding surf spraying our front door!
You could hear the fog horn blow in the distance, with a lighthouse beacon visible through the distant mist. And on our final evening, a late clearing for a splendid sunset over the Pacific.
Our days were filled with outdoor activities like exploring the rainforest in Pacific Rim National Park. We hiked the headlands and woodland trails of Long Beach.
We casually wandered the streets of both Tofino and nearby Ucluelet, checking out the small shops, restaurants, and quaint harbors. We found a few small cafes and bakeries with home baked muffins and organic coffee! And of course, mouth-watering seafood is easy to find.
The fresh ocean air, the calming sounds of the waves, and the seclusion of Tofino all make it an unforgettable destination. And we think one of the best places to honeymoon!
Now, let’s answer some questions you may have about Tofino…

Where is Tofino?
Tofino is located in the Pacific Rim National Park, which is on the west coast of Vancouver Island, in western Canada. It’s part of the Canadian province of British Columbia, which is world-renowned for great outdoor vacations and adventures.
Within the park you'll find Long Beach, one of the most attractive oceanfronts in all of Canada, and the tiny village of Ucluelet, also facing the mighty Pacific Ocean.
How do you get to Tofino?
The closest major international airport is Vancouver International Airport. By air, the most common route would be flying into Vancouver, and then taking a commuter flight to Nanaimo, BC. The distance from Nanaimo to Tofino is 208 kms (130 miles) and it's a 3 hour journey by road. Nanaimo is also accessible by BC Ferries from Vancouver.
Another way of travel to Tofino is by flying or sailing into Victoria, BC. Getting to Victoria is easy from Vancouver and Seattle, WA. The distance from Victoria to Tofino is about 321 kms (200 miles) and travel time by car is about 5 hours.
When is the best time to visit Tofino?
The high season for tourism in Tofino is anytime between mid June to mid September. The sun shines, the weather is warm, and the everyone is having fun near the water (only the brave are swimming, as the ocean is cold even in summer). For these months, book well in advance.

November to March is winter storm season, and while you can’t work on your tan, it is a unique and spectacular time to be in Tofino and Pacific Rim National Park. And you can stand in places where there isn't another human being in sight!
We think the best time to visit Tofino is September and April for a nice balance of winter and summer things to do.
